CORRECTION OF CLEFT LIP NOSE DEFORMITY
Shin Keuk-Shun

Abstract
A reparied cleft lip is revealed more by the associated nasal deformity than by the lip repair line. The multiplicity of methods described for the realignment of the deformed cartilages testifies to the difficulty of first achieving and then sustaining correction of the deformity. It may be assumed that the use of so many methods is proof none is satisfactory for all cases.

In unilateral cleft lip nasal deformity, Tajima and Maruyama combined both elevation of the drooping alar cartilage and alignment of the alar domes at the same level in the method they dsecribed in 1977. The author modified their technique as following: 1) Two non-absorbable sutures are used to lift the distorted alar cartilage and fix it to the other nasal cartilages. 2) Silicon block is used for augmentation of sunken pyriform aperature. 3) Helix cartilage is grafted for augmentation of poor developed ala.

In bilateral cleft lip nose deformity both alar cartiages are dissected and elevated and fixed to elongate the columella in the nasal tip.

In addition to the above procedure composite graft from helix performed on the collumella base to augment the columella length.

In both unilateral and bilateral cleft lip nasal deformity the author got a excellent result for 6 monthes follow up.
